Iron Flowers From Sirius

The title of this post is inspired by its soundtrack, entitled ”Iron Flowers From Sirius” by Olga Scotland.

When I was a little girl I used to fantasize about finding myself somehow all alone in public places like my school, a bed or grocery store, the skating rink, or in ”Dinoland,” this cheap fake dinosaur zoo nestled in a wierd place called Plant City, Florida…Oh, the things I could have discovered had the opportunity come. I never really knew what exactly it was about this idea which made it seem so exciting to my child self, but now I understand completely. Hidden along the outside of Berlin City is a theme park which has been abandoned for 11 years, still partly in tact, rusting and silently reminiscing of the days when its roller-coasters, now overgrown with vines, ran and the fun seekers rode the over-sized swan boats around the winding canal of what was once called ”Spree Park.” Photographer, Chris de Vida and I ventured into this playground for the imagination and eyes, swinging from cart to cart up the roller-coaster and reminiscing on the soul of the days of childhood fantasy.
